2 Months, 2 Years, 4 Years!

Tanner, Hadley & Carter

The kids are now 2 months, 2 years and 4 years old. Wow! This means, among other things, that they were all due for a visit to the doctor to get a check-up and shots! There is no punch card at Boise Pediatrics, nor do they give out room rates for multiple children; it's a straight co-pay times 3! They are super awesome and have lots of fun stuff to do so everyone is well entertained while the other kids get examined! Here is what they are at this point in their lives;

Hadley: 2 months old which required 3 shots! Poor little thing, but she was the easiest! She weighed in at a whopping 11 lbs 10 oz and is 23 1/4 inches tall. She is one amazing little baby and I always hesitate to even think or say this because it could (will) change at any second. But she has been sleeping at night since she was about 3 weeks old and when I say sleeping, I mean going to bed anywhere between 9:30 and 10:30 and not getting up again until between 6:30 and 7:30 in the morning! I know that is totally normal for many baby's out there, but that is not how we roll in our household! Her brothers were up every 3-4 hours until they were at least year old and even then, there were plenty of nights when they would fall back into that routine! I was so exhausted with them! We did have a night just a few nights ago when all 3 of them got up during the night at different times and for various reasons and so that meant that Tyler and I were up the whole night making the rounds with the crew! But those nights are few and far between and I feel so lucky! Hadley is also smiling and cooing and interacting with us like crazy! She is getting to be so much fun when she interacts with us! She has started to grasp at objects and "play" and we are having a ball with this stage that she is in!

Carter: 2 years old. He had to get 2 shots this time and painfully yelled "Dr. Baker is hurting me" when the nurse gave him his shots, even though Dr. Baker was not even in the room at this time! Oh it was so sad! He weighed in at 28 lbs 6 oz and was 37 1/4 inches tall. He also got his blood pressure taken and that was all normal and good! Carter is talking up a storm and loves to be busy playing with Tanner during the day. Carter is a sweet big brother and is learning his limits with Hadley which can be a daily struggle! He is starting to transition off naps and that has been a tough adjustment for me because I don't get alone time! So, I have implemented a mandatory "quiet time" where both Tanner and Carter have to go upstairs and stay upstairs for at least an hour and play toys or look at books. It works about 70% of the time but I am totally satisfied with that! This transition has also been pretty good for our daily activities because we can be gone all day now and not have huge meltdowns, just a few small ones! We have set some length of stay records at Rafiki and I have been able to have some fun times with my friends who are also setting Rafiki records! Last week we were there for 8 hours! Tyler wondered what in the world all us girls could possibly have to say to each other for an 8 hour stretch of time. He obviously has no idea about girl talk! We had plenty to say and we have plenty more as we will all meet up there again tomorrow!

Tanner: 4 years old. He got 1 shot and he was the worst of the 3 to get shots! At 4, he really picked up on what was going on and that this nurse, who he loves, was really hurting him! He wailed! It was so sad! He weighed in at 40 lbs and is 44 1/4 inches tall. He also got his blood pressure taken and his vision checked. I love the vision check, it is hilarious! They stand the kids up and have them cover one of their eyes and "read" what the symbols are on an eye chart. It is adorable. They start this testing at age 3 along with a hearing test which is completely adorable as well! I had to take video of the eye test because it was cracking me up. Of course, Tanner didn't really "feel" like getting his vision checked so he didn't do a very good job the first time around and had to have it rechecked. He made me a bit nervous until I figured out he just wasn't in the mood. His vision is fine at this point! I wasn't ready to put glasses on the kid! Tanner is also a wonderful big brother! By now, he is a pro at it and loves his role as the biggest of the big brothers to Hadley! Tanner will start his 2nd year of preschool in the fall and is looking forward to that! I spoke to Dr. Baker about school and Kindergarten and when to start all that since he is a summer birthday. Dr. Baker, who is always the voice of reason, told me without a doubt it is always the better choice to wait an extra year and have him start Kindergarten when he is 6. This way he won't be the youngest in his grade all through school and then graduate high school at only 17. That is too young, especially for boys. He also said that since people are living well into their 90's these days, what is one year in the whole scheme of things? Its so true, one year is nothing and I am so thankful for his voice of reason! Plus, this gives me one extra year with him before he goes off to school 5 days a week!

Grandma Turns 60!

We all headed up to Cascade for the weekend to celebrate Grandma turning 60! It was a super fun time! Molly and Emile even flew in from Seattle which was a surprise to Kris! We all enjoyed hanging out with each other so much! Jill planned a great weekend that included a surprise dinner for Kris with all of us and a few of her friends too! It was very well done! I seriously married into the best family! They are absolutely wonderful!

Here is the family! Molly and Emile! It was so great that they could come from Seattle for the weekend!

This picture makes me laugh! The only 2 people smiling and looking at the camera are Molly and Kris! I have no idea what the rest of us are doing and I am so curious as to what I am pointing at while Tyler and Aunt Kat are looking at something and seem a bit confused! I wonder what Emile is thinking? Jill is talking to someone, but I'm not really sure who, maybe it was me and I am showing her something and that is why I am pointing? Hadley is starting to get a little irritated too, I'm not sure she particularly enjoyed wearing her party hat! So funny! This is a behind the scenes candid look at what it takes to get the good picture!

Cameron and Brent are slicing up the flank steak that was paired with a bunch of other delicious side dishes! We never go hungry and the food is always so yummy!

The boys! Now, we have a little issue with traveling that just came upon us a few months ago. Carter gets car sick. And not just a little car sick, a lot car sick. I feel so bad for the people that will one day buy my car when we sell it to get a newer one. It has been thrown up in, a lot!
Since Hadley has been born we have traveled a few times and dealt with the throwing up, the new baby issues, and just tackling doing anything with 3 kids. Well, needless to say, I am just not ready or really all that excited about doing that right now, its hard in more ways than one.
I called Dr. Baker to see what could be done to help Carter out while we drive the curvy roads that lead him to throwupville. The options are children's Benadryl and sitting in the middle seat so he can look out the front window.
Well, my car does not have a middle seat, it has two chairs so, aside from putting him in the very back, which really makes him sick, that was just not an option. Oh, and I failed to mention that he rarely falls asleep in the car too. He's a big help! The last time we headed up to Cascade, the Benadryl didn't really seem to do anything but make him cranky because he still got sick.
So, we borrowed Grandma car and packed all three kids in the back seat so Carter could look out the front window. He still got a bit woozy, but he did not throw up! Yay!! So, I had to take this picture, because this is par for the course with us! Tanner usually falls asleep while Carter is up burning the midnight oil on our car trips! It made me laugh! Maybe a new car is in my future......probably not!

I'm With The Band!

The kids started a Rock Band! They are awesome! If you'd like to schedule a gig, I'm doubling as their mom and manager right now until we can get them signed with an agency!
