Tonight's dinner is going to be flank steaks with potatoes!
Here are the potatoes that I will either mash up or twice bake....haven't quite decided yet! I might just bake them and serve them with my moms special cheese sauce which is 1/2 cup flour, 2 tblsp butter (the real stuff), 1/2 cup milk, 1/2 tblsp powdered mustard, 1/4 tsp pepper, and 1-2 cups shredded cheese. How you make this is by combining the flour and the butter together in a sauce pan over med heat until melted together. Then add the milk and whisk together until the sauce becomes thickened. Add the mustard powder and pepper. Add the cheese and stir until cheese is melted into the sauce.
This is the 2 flank steaks beginning to marinade. I like to let them marinade all day and if possible, all night the night before as well.
Here are the flanks ready for the marinade.
This is the marinade. The recipe is for 2 flanks and consists of 1 cup of oil, 1/2 cup of soy sauce, 1/3 cup of honey, 1/4 vinegar, (I have tried all kinds of vinegar and decided that rice wine tastes the best for this recipe!) 3-4 cloves of garlic crushed, 1/2 tblsp of ginger, and 1/2 onion chopped.
